About the site survey

To give you an accurate estimate, we survey the terrain, geology and access conditions on site. The survey fee is decided in consultation with you in advance, taking into account the site's location, scale, number of visits and so on.

Start by contacting us by email or LINE. We'll ask about your purpose and wishes and, as far as we can, give you a rough idea of the expected cost. Then we'll discuss a site survey with you.

What the estimate includes and what is extra

  • Separate from the drilling work cost, materials such as casing (protective pipe), pump and piping are charged extra
  • With our hydraulic rotary compact drilling rig, we drill from a standard 50 m up to 70 m supported (soil layers, sand and gravel layers, etc.).Sites with hard bedrock layers are not supported.
  • Sites without mains water can be handled with our large-capacity tanks (transport fee extra)
  • Long-term jobs supported (for distant sites, lodging and travel costs extra)
  • If a notification to the local government is required, we can help with the procedure (extra fee)
  • Water quality testing for drinking use is arranged separately

Payment timing

Step 1
50%
At the time of order (deposit: 50% of the total)
Step 2
50%
When water flow is confirmed with a temporary pump (balance + any additions)
Payment is by bank transfer as a rule. For large projects, please consult us.
If you book work for the following fiscal year or later, we hold a booking deposit of ¥200,000 (applied to the construction price) at the time of booking, and before work starts you pay 50% of the total minus the booking deposit.
Not included in the estimate and charged separately
① Water purification system for drinking (specifications depend on water quality, so we quote after confirming water flow and quality)
② Sand filter (sand separator, when there is a lot of sand)
③ Cold and freeze protection (depending on the outdoor installation, discussed on site)
④ Drilling beyond 50 m (drilling work and materials for the excess, around ¥200,000–¥300,000 depending on geology; billed after the work is completed. The maximum depth is 70 m. We will always consult you before deciding whether to keep drilling.)
⑤ Piping into the house, special piping, electrical work and the electrical circuit for the well pump (these may fall within the scope of your house builder, etc.)

Guarantee in case no water comes out

We carefully assess the likelihood of groundwater in the pre-drilling survey, but depending on geological conditions, there are rare cases where no water comes out or not enough water is obtained. In that case, you pay only the 50% deposit, and we do not charge the remaining 50%.

※ Equipment transport costs, actual material costs, and lodging for long-term jobs may by their nature be charged to you. Details are explained in writing at the time of contract.

Until the well water settles

Before It Settles

A well cannot be used like mains water from the day it is finished. It settles down little by little over several weeks to several months. How long this takes varies greatly depending on the strata, and we cannot guarantee it. Please understand this before you decide.

Right after drilling Muddy brown water Lots of sand We clean it and run a pumping test During the work Right after handover Slightly cloudy Sand and iron (rusty water) too Please use it every day Up to a few days Settling period Cloudiness fades Occasional sand Decide whether a sand filter is needed Several weeks to several months Stable Becomes clear Almost no sand Water quality test recommended Annual inspection after that ※ The period varies greatly depending on the strata. We cannot guarantee it.
StageApproximate periodWhat may come outWhat we ask of you
Right after drillingDuring the work Mud water, sand, heavy cloudiness We clean the well and run a pumping test
Right after handoverA few days Slight cloudiness, sand, iron (rusty water), odor Please run the water and use it every day
Settling periodSeveral weeks to several months Occasional sand and cloudiness Keep using it. If sand continues, please contact us
Stable─ Almost clear If you will drink it, have the water tested

Why sand comes out when you stop and restart the pump

The water is clear while pumping continuously, but when you stop the pump and start it again, sand comes out. This is a common phenomenon in wells. The cause is not the amount of water but the surge at the moment of start-up.

While pumping continuously Topsoil Silt Sand (mainly fine sand) Water level (stable) Screen Gentle flow → sand stays put The moment you stop and restart The water level drops sharply The flow suddenly speeds up → sand is drawn in This happens more easily in fine-sand strata, and the more often the pump starts and stops at short intervals, the more sand tends to come out

What to do if sand continues

First, reducing the pumping volume a little and reducing how often the pump starts and stops are effective. A larger pressure tank reduces short-interval starts and stops.

If that still doesn't solve it, options include installing a sand filter (sand separator) or placing a sand settling tank above ground. Depending on the strata, the screen may need to be reinstalled.

These countermeasures are not included in the well drilling estimate, but we offer the "Sand & Turbidity Water Supply System" (quoted according to the installation location).

Depending on the strata, sand and turbidity may continue indefinitely

How long it takes for well water to clear is determined by the strata. Even in sandy places, it is not always true that "it will run clear soon after some use."

Land that was originally seabed and land where the seabed rose up to become mountains or plains have thick layers of uniform fine sand, and sand easily enters the well, so sand tends to keep coming out for a long time.
Clay layers (including volcanic-ash clay): on land where these are thick, the fine particles stay suspended in the water and do not settle easily, so the cloudiness is hard to remove and may never fully go away.

This is due to the underground water veins and strata, and is not something we can control. Please understand this before you decide.

For such sites, we offer our own original countermeasure equipment. We can propose various systems to match the water quality once water is flowing, so please consult us. See the "Sand & Turbidity Water Supply System"

Please understand in advance

  1. Well water is not clear and odorless like mains water from the start. It may come with cloudiness, sand, iron (rusty water) or odor.
  2. The period until it settles can take several weeks to several months, and since it depends on the strata, we do not guarantee it.
  3. Using it every day and keeping the water running is the shortcut to stability. If it goes unused for a while, it may turn cloudy when you resume.
  4. If the pump starts and stops repeatedly at short intervals, sand comes out more easily.
  5. In sandy ground of seabed origin and in clay layers, sand and turbidity may continue for a long time (in some cases indefinitely). This is due to underground water veins and cannot be controlled by us.
  6. In strata that produce sand, countermeasures such as a sand filter may be needed separately (we offer our original "Sand & Turbidity Water Supply System").
  7. For drinking use, a water quality test and a water purifier are required. Water quality is judged from the test results after drilling.

Sand & Turbidity Water Supply System

Sand & Turbidity Solutions

Depending on the strata, sand and turbidity may not settle even with continued use. Equipment cannot eliminate sand and turbidity completely, but by improving not the well itself but "how the water is received", we can make the water good enough for practical use.
We propose two original methods we have actually built on sandy sites, chosen to match the water quality once water is flowing. Costs are quoted according to the installation location and piping. Your existing well pump stays in use.

PLAN A

Settling tank method

For sandy sites / for the period until the well water settles

Well pump Check valve Air (stores pressure) Sand settles Stainless steel pressure tank200 L, pressure storage + sand settling Sand drain cock Sand filter40 microns PP cottonFilter Faucet
A 200 L stainless steel pressure tank serves both to store pressure and to settle sand. Water flows slowly upward in the tank, sand sinks to the bottom, and only clear water goes to the faucet.
  • To remove accumulated sand, just open the drain cock at the bottom. The pump runs automatically and pushes the sand out
  • Because the tank is large, the pump restarts less often and the well settles more easily.
  • Components: 200 L stainless steel pressure tank, sand filter, PP cotton filter, check valve, pressure control, piping
Request an estimate Quoted individually according to the installation location and piping (the same applies to orders combined with well drilling)
PLAN B

Water purifier method

For sites with mainly turbidity / as a finishing stage after the sand has settled

Well pump Check valve Sand filter40 microns Pressure controlAutomatic ON/OFF Well water purifierTurbidity 30 microns and aboveReplaceable cartridge PP cottonFilter Faucet
The sand filter removes coarse sand, the well water purifier removes fine turbidity and odor, and PP cotton finishes the job. Maintenance is just replacing cartridges — the simplest method.
  • Since cartridges clog quickly when there is a lot of sand, this method is for after the sand has settled.
  • It can also be expanded by adding a purifier after PLAN A.
  • Components: well water purifier, sand filter, PP cotton filter, check valve, pressure control, piping
Request an estimate Quoted individually according to the installation location and piping (the same applies to orders combined with well drilling)

Common notes

  • Your existing well pump stays in use. We set the pressure to match the pump's capacity (head)
  • Indoor installation is assumed. For outdoor installation, please consult us separately about freeze protection
  • This equipment targets sand and turbidity (particles).Iron and manganese dissolved in the water are not covered.
  • For drinking use, we recommend a water quality test
  • Costs are quoted individually according to the installation location (indoor, machine room, piping distance, etc.). The same applies to orders combined with well drilling
  • Travel costs are extra depending on distance. If local piping conditions require more materials, we will consult you beforehand

FAQ

FAQ
With our hydraulic rotary compact drilling rig, we drill from a standard 50 m up to 70 m supported. We handle a wide range of projects, from sites where shallow wells lack water to projects targeting mid-depth aquifers. However, Sites with hard bedrock layers are not supported, so we confirm this in an on-site survey beforehand.
Yes, we can. We have Large-capacity tank equipment, so we can secure the water needed for drilling by hauling it from nearby rivers and ponds. We can proceed even in areas without infrastructure, such as mountain areas and land under development.
A driven shallow well takes half a day to a day, and a mid-sized well drilled with the hydraulic rotary compact rig takes about 2–3 days. A mid-depth well may finish in about ten days or take a month. Boulders in shallow layers, borehole collapse during drilling, redrilling — underground we are dealing with nature, so we cannot promise a schedule in advance. After the pre-drilling geological survey, we will let you know the optimal drilling depth, an estimated schedule and the cost. Our dedicated trailer has a toilet, rest area and water supply, so long jobs in remote areas are no problem.
We carefully assess the likelihood of groundwater in the on-site survey, but depending on geological conditions, no water or not enough water may be obtained. In that case, you pay only the 50% deposit, and we do not charge the remaining 50%. Details are explained in writing at the time of contract.
Small household wells (pump outlet cross-section under 6 cm²) usually require no notification. Commercial or large wells may require notification under Sapporo City and Kitahiroshima City ordinances. We support the procedure.
If you use it for drinking, be sure to have it tested by a public health center or a specialized laboratory. We can arrange the test. Regular testing (about once a year) is also recommended.
Yes, we also drill in winter (around November to April). Since heating and cold protection are needed to prevent freezing, we add about ¥150,000 (excl. tax) as a countermeasure fee (reviewed depending on the drilling location). Work may be postponed depending on snow, the drilling location and conditions. Feel free to consult us.
Yes, we travel to All of Hokkaido. For distant sites, travel costs are charged separately, but since we handle long-term jobs while staying in our dedicated trailer, we can take jobs anywhere in Hokkaido. Please also consult us about projects other companies have turned down.
50% deposit + 50% after completion — two payments is the standard. Payment is by bank transfer. A water purification system for drinking is an option you decide on after confirming water flow and quality, so it is not included in this 50/50 and is charged separately when installed. Likewise, additional work such as a sand filter, cold and freeze protection, drilling beyond 50 m and piping into the house is not included in the 50/50 and is charged separately. For large projects, payment terms can be discussed, so feel free to ask.

[Work process and payment]
Order → site survey → final estimate → 💰 50% deposit paid → scheduling → delivery & setup → drilling → well cleaning → water flow confirmed with a temporary pump → 💰 remaining 50% + additions transferred → casing, pump and inner pipe installation (continued to prevent internal collapse) → optional work (purification equipment, piping into the house, etc.) → explanation → delivery complete
※ Payment is made twice: a 50% deposit (at order) and the remaining 50% plus additions (once water flow is confirmed with a temporary pump). The deposit covers initial costs such as arranging and delivering materials (casing, etc.), drilling work and fuel. The permanent installation of the casing, pump and inner pipe continues after water flow is confirmed, to prevent internal collapse. If no water comes out at all, you pay only the 50% deposit and no balance (the deposit covers actual costs such as drilling, delivery and fuel). Whether water will come out cannot be promised in advance due to various factors such as geology and the limits of drilling depth, so the risk of no water is shared between us and the customer.
